Montana Canoe Club

About the Montana Canoe Club

The Montana Canoe Club paddles out of Big Arm, MT and hosts a fleet of OC6’s, 1’s and 2’s that are shared with the Silver Lining Montana all-breast cancer paddling team.

Silver Lining Montana began as a dragon boat team but discovered the outrigger during the Covid pandemic,  many thanks to Uncle Kimokeo Kapahulehua and Jake Freeman.

We acknowledge that the Montana Canoe Club is on the aboriginal territory of the Ksanka (Kootenai) people and we recognize and welcome all the members of the SKC tribe, including the Ksanka (Kootenai), Seliš (Salish), and Qlispé (Kalispel).

We honor the path they have always shown us in caring for this place for the generations to come.

We see this as our responsibility, our "kuleana"

We believe that by connecting communities through the shared traditions of paddling and the canoe, we can indeed foster a sense of peace and unity. And we believe that by embracing diverse cultural histories, we will continue to add richness to the tapestry of our paddling community. We hope you will join us!

Our Mission

The mission of the Montana Canoe Club / Inland Northwest Canoe club focuses on reviving, developing, and perpetuating Hawaiian and Native American culture and traditions related to canoeing and water sports through instruction and training.

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide opportunities for all to enjoy the community that paddling brings to people of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and physical abilities.
